Born March 7, 1922, near Chandlerville to John Henry and Sarah Adeline Friend McCaulley, he married Ollidean F. Hadsall on December 8, 1944, in Peoria, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Martha Chapman of Frederick, IL; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard (and Jeanette) McCaulley of East Peoria; and three sisters, Alsace "Lorraine" Blanch, Ethel "Juanita" Oest of Pekin and M. Darlene (and John) Hess of Moberly, MO.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
He worked as a boilermaker in Peoria for five years, then as caretaker at Mitchell Sanitarium in Peoria for 25 years. He last worked as a stationary engineer at G & K Services in Peoria for 13 years, retiring in 1979.
Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
