Mrs. Ruth Earp Lee, age 99 of Dunn, died on Monday, March 2, 2020 at Pinehurst Healthcare & Rehab. Ruth was born October 18, 1920 in Sampson Co. the daughter of the late James Edgar Earp, Sr. and Lela Pope Earp and is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Wilton Lee, her son, Bobby Howell Earp and her son-in-law, Fred Styers, Jr. She is also preceded in death by her brothers; Billy Earp, James E. Earp, Jr., Deleyotte “Dee” Earp, Warren C. Earp and sisters; Callie E. Allen, Becky E. Hardison, Rothelene E. Lewis, Iris Etheridge.

Ruth came from a large family making family very important to her. She loved her family and enjoyed her grandchildren, nephews and nieces visiting her in the summer in Durham, NC. Ruth was known to be a good cook and her family loved her chicken pastry, pound cakes and coconut pies. She enjoyed listening to gospel music. Ruth and Wilton were resident managers of University Apartments in Durham for over thirty years. She attended Dunn Schools and Watts School of Nursing in Durham.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Greenwood Cemetery in Dunn with Rev. Beth Gaines officiating.

Ruth is survived by: her daughter: Mary Jo Lee Styers of Southern Pines, NC A Daughter-in-law: Marinda Naylor Earp of Dunn, NC; Grandchildren: Fred Styers, III & Robin Wilson of Whispering Pines, NC Tracie Styers-Pickett & Michael Pickett of Southern Pines, NC Hal Earp & Vickie Earp of Raleigh, NC Dee Ann Hayes & Ronald Hayes of Dunn, NC 7 Great Grandchildren Sisters: Patty E. Lockamy of Dunn, NC; Kitty E. Sexton of Kissimee, FL; and Gerald “Gerry” Dorman of Selma, NC. And many nieces and nephews, to include three very special nieces, “Peachie” Lee Johnson, June Gail Price & Debbie Blackmon.

The family will receive friends Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 12:00 Noon – 1:30 pm at Cromartie Miller Funeral Home in Dunn. Prior to the Graveside at Greenwood Cemetery.
