SHAWBORO - Surrounded by family and friends, Iris Earp Etheridge, 81, of the 800 block of Shawboro Road, began the first day of her heavenly life March 20, 2008. She was born Oct. 17, 1926, in Sampson County, NC, to the late James Edger Earp Jr. and Lela Pope Earp, and grew up in Dunn, NC. Iris was blessed to have spent the past 58 years dancing through life with the love of her life, Doc Horace Etheridge Jr., her husband and best friend. She was the beloved mother of Owen Etheridge of Shawboro, NC; Joe Etheridge and wife, Laura, of Shawboro, NC; Jane Etheridge of Duck, NC, and LeAnn Etheridge and husband, Patrick McInerney, of Nashville, TN; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren: Pope Etheridge and wife, Nicole, and their son, Tate, of Barco, NC; Lindsey Etheridge Tice and husband, Gregory, and their children Alexis , Ashton and Oliver, of Moyock, NC; Will Small and fiance', Kelly Tran, of San Diego, CA; Zach Small of Southern Shores, NC; and Chris Davis of Charleston, SC. A private burial will follow later at the Etheridge Family Cemetery.
