Funeral services for Sam Schannault, age 81, of Detroit, Michigan were held on November 1, at the Temperance Hall Church of Christ. John Crump officiated with burial following at theTubb Cemetery in Temperance Hall. (DeKalk Co.TN)
He died on Oct 28 in Detroit, Michigan with a long battle of emphysemia.
He was born July 24, 1918, in Danburg, Georgia. He was the son of Effie Thompkins and John Oliver Schannault.
He was married to Mildred Dean Hayes for 62 years. A son, Ronald Samuel Schannault preceded him in death.
He was a retired arch welder for Ford Motor Co in Detroit.
not only was he a devoted , husband, father and grandfather,he was an intergal figure in raising his daughter, Judy Kay's three boys. Thomas Edward Sizemore Jr. , Aaron Christopher Sizemore, and Paul Alexander Sizemore.
he is survived by his wife, Mildred Dean Hayes Schannault; children, Shirley Marie Ledford of Alabama, Herman Jerome Schannault of Fla, Judith Kay Sizemore of Michigan, Barry Lislie Schannault of Michigan,and Larry Davis Schannault of California. a step-daughter; Barbara Ann Hobson of Nashville, a sister, Estelle Mazure of Michigan. 15 grandchildren and 17 great-granchildren.
Serviving as pallbearers, were Aaron Sizemore, Paul Sizemore, Rick Hobson, Richard Hayes, Chris Hayes, Aaron Braswell, and Larry Schannault.
