LURA I. BRIGGS, 94, of Olney, Illinois, passed away February 18, 2020 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, Illinois with her family by her side.

Lura was born in West Salem, Illinois to Edwin and Harriet (Knakmuhs) Ahlfield. She married Glenn E. Briggs on November 1s 1942 at Browns, Illinois. They shared 45 years of marriage. He preceded her in death January 29th 1988.

Lura was a waitress and of the Baptist Faith.

Lura is survived by her son Glenn Eldon (Anna Maria) Briggs Jr. of San Antonio, Texas; three brothers, Herman (Mary) Ahlfield of Pana, Illinois, Enoch Ahlfield of Mason City, Illinois, and James Ahlfield of Jasper, Indiana. Also surviving are three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters and five brothers.

Per Lura’s wishes, there will be no local services. Burial will be held a later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at San Antonio, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Donors Choice and will be accepted at Hosselton-Meridith Funeral Home.

Hosselton-Meridith Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
