Vern Huff, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, returned to his Heavenly Father on July 2, 2007 at his home in Woodland surrounded by his loving family. Born to Archer and Sarah Ann Carter Huff in Lake Shore, Utah, September 6, 1911. Married Ruth Naomi Winterton May 13, 1935, in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a member of the LDS Church serving in the Avalon Ward Bishopric, Woodland Ward Clerk, and various other callings. He built his own home in Woodland, has been a truck driver, miner and owned his own farm in the Uintah Basin for twenty years before his health required him to give it up. He was the Summit County Building Inspector for 11 years retiring in 1983. He served as President of the Kamas Senior Citizens and was a Storm Watcher for the National Weather Service for 30 years. He earned his High School Diploma from Spanish Fork High School at the age of 92 years old. Survived by his wife of 72 years, Ruth; daughter, Bonita (Theil) Atkinson, Woodland; son-in-law, Gerald E.Young, Oakley; nine grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren with one on the way; and one great-great granddaughter with two on the way. Brother, Lee Huff, Spanish Fork Utah, two sisters, Melva Hancock, South Jordan and Norma Jo (Louis) Bunnell, Price Utah, sister-in-law Marie Huff, Spanish Fork. Preceded in death by parents; son, James A.; daughter, DeLora Young. Brothers and sisters: Archie, Clifton, John D. (Jack), Bessie Atwood, and Ila Atwood. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 7, 2007, at 11:00 am at the Woodland LDS Chapel. A viewing will be held on Friday, July 6 from 6-8 pm and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. The family wishes to thank Hospice Alliance for their kindness and care especially Georgene, Sara, Christie, Dr. Wain Allen.
