Wallace “Wally” Rislov, 88 of Cooperstown, ND, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2013 in Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Wallace “Wally” Stanley Rislov was born October 8, 1924 to Irvin and Lydia (Dokken) Rislov in Sherman, SD. At the age of 10 he moved with his family to a farm near South Shore, SD where he graduated from high school in 1942.

Wally worked on an area farm until going to Watertown, SD to work for Swift Packing Company in 1945.

On December 12, 1946 he married Mildred Schwinger in the Bergan Church near Florence, SD. They lived in Watertown until 1951 when he accepted a job with Cargill Inc. managing elevators in Huffton and Claremont. SD. The couple moved to Cooperstown, ND in 1961 and Wally managed the Shepard Farmers Elevator south of Cooperstown until retiring in 1990. Upon his retirement, Wally and Mildred moved into Cooperstown where he lived out the rest of his days.

Wally had a vibrant, competitive nature. He enjoyed playing horseshoe and won the State Championship in 1966 and again in 1985. He was inducted into the Horseshoe Hall of Fame in 1983. His love of golf, fishing, bowling and card games kept his retirement day’s busy; he was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. But his greatest joy was spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mildred, Cooperstown, ND; sons Larry (Karla) Rislov, Badger, MN, Mark (Vickie) Rislov, Surprise, AZ, Dave (Connie) Rislov, Hermantown, MN; daughter, Kay (Edward) Arnesen, Rock Point, MN; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; brother, Don (Betty) Rislov, Watertown, SD and several nieces and nephews.

Wally was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Lydia, brother, Leland; sisters, Irene, Olga, Esther, Hilma, Alda and Mabelle and an infant grandson Thomas Rislov.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 1:00 pm in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Cooperstown, ND. Visitation will be Monday, September 23, 2013 from 5:00 till 7:00 pm in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND and one hour before services in the Church. A Prayer Service will be Monday at 7:00 pm in the Funeral. Interment will be in the Cooperstown Cemetery.
