IN MEMORY
Of our loved one, Naomi G. McGinniss,
who departed this life nine months ago

This mournful year is swiftly passing,
Think we while the tear drops start
But the memory of our loved one
Still is fresh within our hearts

Oh, the misery of that dreary night
When we stood around her bed
Till death stole upon her softly
Then we knew her soul had fled

Oh, since then our lives are saddened
Since that day our hopes are slain
But her voice seems sweetly saying
"Courage; we shall meet again"

Oft we wander to the grave yard
Flowers to strew with care
On the grave of our dear loved one
Who is sweetly resting there

By her husband, son and daughter
Dogue, King George Co., Va., Nov 24 (1903)

Unfortunately, caretakers of this cemetery on Rappahannock Bend Farm probably didn't realize this was a family cemetery when they interred several dogs with name markers.
