Sylvester V. Reed, 66, of 2920 Hebert street, died Feb. 17, 1951 at 6:40 p.m. in a local hospital. He is survived by his wife, six daughters, Mrs. Leonard Vead, Mrs. J.W. Holmes, Mrs. Albert J. Michiels, Mrs. Aubrey Watson, Mrs. K.C. Peart, and Miss Madeline Reed, all of Alexandria; four brothers, G.W. Reed, Calvin Reed and Kelly Reed, all of Alexandria and Alcide Reed of Effie; two sisters, Mrs. Corbett Miller of Alexandria and Mrs. Arthur Terrece of Anna Ill., and eight grandchildren.

Mr. Reed was an employe of the Missouri Pacific Railway, and a member of the Woodmen of the World.

The funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, 1951 in the Kramer Funeral home chapel with Rev. Charles R. Shirar officiating. Interment was in the Greenwood Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were L.M. Cole, C.L. Carter, J.C. Lindsey, F. Carter, S.J. Bonnett and F.L. Knox, Honorary pallbearers were Leonard Vead, J.W. Homes, Albert J. Michiels, Aubrey Watson, K.C. Peart, Ray Crump, Gerald Branton, John Normand and all members of the local Brotherhood Railway Carmen No. 413.
