Emma Edna Rossmiller Meyer was born to Fred and Mary Mesloh Rossmiller on January 16, 1908, near Davenport, Nebraska, then known as Kiowa, and passed away on October 30, 1981, at the Republic County Hospital in Belleville, Kansas, at the age of 73 years, 9 months, and 14 days.

She was baptized on January 26, 1908 by Reverend John Meyer. On March 25, 1923 she was confirmed in the St. John's Lutheran Church of Chester by Reverend W.H. Becker. The memory verse was Acts 4:12.

She was united in marriage to John Meyer on September 28, 1931, at Hiawatha, Kansas. They began their married life on a farm west of Byron. Later they moved to the Chester community. John passed away on November 20, 1961. Emma was employed with the Foote Cafe in Chester since 1955.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where she was an active member of the Ladies Aid and quilting group.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, her parents and one brother, Arthur.

Survivors are seven sisters, Mrs. Flora Taylor, Durango, Colo., Mrs. Viola Taylor of Cortez, Colo., Mrs. Lydia Willerton, Lancaster, Calif., Mrs. Irene Rick, Bucks, England, Mrs. Rosa Schukar, Lincoln, Ne., Mrs. Aileen Bonjour, Olathe, Ks., and Mrs. Bernice Barbee, Hebron, Nebraska; one brother, Wilbur Rossmiller, Durango, Colo.; 23 nieces and nephews; 19 great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 3, 1981, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church of Chester, Nebraska, conducted by Pastor Kenneth Benson. Mrs. Alvin Poppe was organist with Mrs. Wilbur Mussmann and Miss Ruth Poppe singing. Casket bearers were Herbert Brettmann, Alvin Brettmann, Arnold Mesloh, Lavern Mesloh, Arthur Brettmann and Marvin Schmidt. Interment was at St. John Lutheran Cemetery.
