Mary Dorothea Rossmiller nee Mesloh was born November 6, 1884, at Friedensau, Nebraska, the daughter of Fred and Anna Mesloh. There, in Trinity Lutheran Church, she received the Sacrament of Baptism as an infant. On March 26, 1899, she was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Peace Lutheran Church, Deshler, by Rev. J. Schwerin.
She was united in marriage with Fred Wm. Rossmiller on Jan. 31, 1907, in Peace Lutheran Church, Deshler. Rev. J. Schwerin performed the ceremony. Twelve children were born to this union. With the exception of a few years spent in White City, Kans., and Chester where Mr. Rossmiller was in business, the couple made their home on farms near Deshler, Hebron and Chester. In 1947 she moved to Chester where she continued to live until her death.
She entered eternal life on Friday, May 7, 1965, at her home in Chester, having attained the age of 80 years, 6 months and 1 day. She was preceeded in death by her husband, who departed this life June 14, 1946, by two sons who died in infancy, by her parents, four brothers, two sisters and her twin sister, and one granddaughter.
She leaves to mourn her passing eight daughters, Mrs. John Meyer (Emma) of Chester; Mrs. Randall Taylor (Flora) of Durango, Colo.; Mrs. Raymond Taylor (Viola) of Cortez, Colo.; Mrs. Lynn Willerton (Lydia) of Lancaster, Calif.: Mrs. Robert Rice (Irene) of Whittier, Calif.; Mrs. George Schukar (Rosa) of Lincoln; Mrs. Dale Bonjour (Aileen) of Olathe, Ks.; Mrs Gwyn Barbee (Bernice) of Deshler; two sons, Arthur Rossmiller of Chester and Wilbur Rossmiller of Cortez, Colo.; one sister, Mrs. Emma Jungck of Englewood, Colo.; one brother, Fred Mesloh of Deshler; 23 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and many friends and acquaintances.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 10, 1965, at St. John Lutheran Church in Chester with Rev. Robert J. Leege officiating. Pallbearers were Fred Duey, Lee Larkins, Walter Mosier, Charles Kuhlmann, Arthur Vorderstrasse, Henry Kappermann. Interment was made in St. John Cemetery, Chester.
