Eagle Democrat - February 5, 1948 - Mrs. Sarah Almeda Carter Dies at Age 73 - "Mrs. Sarah Almeda Carter, 73, wife of W. J. Carter, died Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Steve Vernich,--430 Oak Street. She was a member of the Baptist church. Surviving, besides the husband, are: Four sons, Bernard S. and Earl M. Carter, Hobart, Indiana, Virgil M., Valliant, Oklahoma, and Murray of Warren; two daughters, Mrs. Beulah Sims of New Edinburg, and Mrs. Willie Vernich, Warren; two sisters, Mrs. Elbert Thompson, Little Rock, Mrs. Ben Thompson, Warren; four brothers, Frank Brantley, Little Rock, Don Brantley, Hugo Oklahoma, Fulton and Elmer Brantley, Crossett; 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Services were conducted Sunday at 2:30 from Emmaus church, with Rev. Stacy Owens and Rev. Otis Reddin officiating. Bearers were Walter Moseley, Oliver Carter, Harvey Parnell, Cone Parnell, Durwood Guice, Aubert Moseley and Dean Nevels."
