Marvin Lee Agler, 73 of rural Rockford, died at 8:27 p.m., Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Mercy Health in Lima, Ohio.

He was born on May 29, 1946 in Van Wert County, Ohio, the son of the late Lloyd Elsworth and Ethel Lenore (Miller) Agler. On July 12, 1969, he married late Diana S. (Boroff), who preceded him in death on December 15, 1998. On June 21, 2002, he married Belle A. (Shellaberger), who survives.

Marvin retired from Federal Mogul in Van Wert and farming. He was a 1966 graduate of Ohio City - Liberty High School and a member of the Ohio City Community Church. He was a longtime member of V.F.W. Post 5803, Van Wert Eagles #886, and Van Wert Moose Lodge.

Family survivors include his wife, Belle; daughter and son-in-law, Nikki and Kent Stanton of Van Wert; son and daughter-in-law, Brent (Jennifer) Agler of Van Wert; three step children, Katie J. Jump of Kenton, John M. (Ramsey) Hutson of Marietta, Georgia, and Jennifer M. (Travis) Sloan of Alger; three grandchildren, 14 step-grandchildren, and five step great- grandchildren; brother, Ronald E. Agler of Van Wert; sisters, Loma Miller of Chinock, MT, Joyce L. (Raymond) Eller of Rockford, Shirley (Irvin) Crider of Elida, and Kathy Funk of Grand Junction, CO; and his mother-in-law, Katie Shellaberger of Rockford.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ned E. Agler and James Agler; and two sisters, Anna Jeanette McAfee and Carolyn Felver.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, December 17, 10:30 a.m. at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, 616 S. Washington Street, Van Wert, officiated by Pastor Randy Bevington of the Ohio City Community Church. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City, Ohio. Visitation is one hour ahead of the service on Tuesday and from 2-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to Ohio City Community Church or the National Kidney Foundation.
