MRS. MELISSA COY, 68, DEAD

Edinburg, Ind., Sept. 1. -- Mrs. Melissa Milnes Coy, 68, wife of J. Wesley Coy, of the Anderson church neighborhood, west of Edinburg, died this morning at the Columbus hospital at 11 o'clock of a complication of diseases, following a recent operation. She had spent her entire life in this community and many will mourn her passing. She was a devoted wife and mother and an ardent worker in the Anderson church to which she had belonged since early girlhood.

Besides the husband she is survived by 12 children, Mrs. Harry Campbell and Mrs. Herman Campbell, of Pennsylvania; Mrs. Alvin Wirey, of Franklin; Mrs. George Hammer, of Indianapolis; Ray Coy, of Indianapolis, and Mrs. William Galey, Mrs. Leslie Waltz, Mrs. Wilbur Clark, Mrs. Roland Fordyce, Emerson, Lory and Gladys Coy, all of Edinburg. She is also survived by three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Bert Chandler, of Indianapolis; Mrs. John Green, of Columbus, Mrs. Will Long, of Edinburg; Joseph Milnes, of Nashville, Ind.; and Charles Milnes, of Edinburg. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

Well Known Woman Survived by Husband and Twelve Children

EDINBURG, Sept 2 – Mrs. Melissa Milnes Coy, 68, wife of J. Wesley Coy of the Anderson church neighborhood, west of Edinburg, died Thursday at the Columbus Hospital at 11 o’clock of a complication of diseases, following a recent operation. She had spent her entire life in this community and many will mourn her passing. She was a devoted wife and mother and an ardent worker in the Anderson church to which she had belonged since early girlhood.

She is also survived by three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Bert Chandler, of Indianapolis; Mrs. John Green, of Columbus; Mrs. Will Long, of Edinburg; Joseph Milnes, of Nashville, Ind., and Charles Milnes, of Edinburg.

The funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. at New Bethel church. Burial at Kansas M.E. Cemetery.

Twelve of This Number Survive Mother Who Died on Thursday

EDINBURGH, Sept. 3. -- Mrs. Hannah M. Coy, wife of John Wesley Coy, whose death occurred Thursday noon, was the mother of fifteen children, twelve of whom, with the husband and father, survive. Mrs. Coy was born near the New Bethel church in Brown county, October 1, 1860. She married Mr. Coy in 1878 at the age of eighteen years.

The surviving children are Nette Wirey, Cora Clark of Franklin; Grace Hammar and Ray Coy of Indianapolis; Bessie Campbell of Barnesboro, Pa.; Esthma Campbell of Brooksville. Pa.; Lora and Emerson Coy of near New Bethel; Delia Gaily, of Kansas neighborhood; Lena Waltz of near Edinburg; Gladys Coy at home and Arie Fordyce of Edinburg.

She has three sisters, Mrs. Ella Chandler of Indianapolis; Mrs. Ida Green of Columbus; Mrs. Minnie Long of Ohio Ridge, two brothers, Charles Milnes of Indianapolis and Joseph Milnes of Nashville.

The late W. T. Milnes of Edinburg who preceded her in death just four months was also a brother.

Services Held at New Bethel Church - Burial in Kansas Cemetery

EDINBURG, Sept. 5 -- Funeral services for the late Mrs. Melissa Coy, age 68, wife of J. Wesley Coy, of the Anderson church neighborhood, who died at Columbus, Thursday, were held from the New Bethel church Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

Services were in charge of the Rev. Ray Bozell. The Rev. Coe, pastor of the New Bethel church, read the scripture, while the Rev. James Baldwin read the obituary at the service.

Pall bearers were: Hensil, Oris, LaVon and Orville Coy and James and Oral Wirey. Grandchildren acted as flower bearers. Burial was at the Kansas M. E. cemetery.
