Ed Meeker member of a prominent Linn County pioneer family, died at his home on Albany RFD number two, Saturday, March 13, following a prolonged illness. Funeral services are to be held Wednesday form the Fortmiller Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. Intermentwill be made in the family plot in the Millersburg Cemetery.
Mr. Meeker was born in the Millersburg neighborhood, where he spent all of his life, July 17, 1858. He spent all of his active life as a farmer. In 1900 he was elected County Recorder on the Democratic ticket and is known to have served faithfully and efficiently. He was married March 14, 1880 to Olive Allphin, who survives him. He is also survived by a daughter, Mrs. Stacy L. Neely of Albany, and a granddaughter, Melva Styman.
Mr. Meeker was a member of the I.O.O.F. at Jefferson and widely known as a worthy and enterprising citizen.
