BELGRADE -- Hazel A. Bickford, 87, died on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at the Augusta Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.
She was born in Caratunk on Aug. 28, 1917, the daughter of Walter and Alice (Smith) Beane.
She was a graduate of Norridgewock High School. She was employed several years by Caldwell Oil Co. in Augusta. Hazel was a longtime resident of Belgrade, where she enjoyed sewing, knitting and gardening and volunteered for the Well Baby Clinic.
She was predeceased by her husband, Elmer Bickford, whom she married in 1935; a son, Arnold Bickford; and a stepdaughter, Emily Hammond. Surviving are a son, Bryant Bickford and his wife, Jeanie, of Antelope, Calif.; a daughter, Patricia Dambrosio and husband Birino of Wilmington, Del.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at Belgrade's Pine Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wheeler Funeral Home of Oakland.
