He was born in Oil City on April 2, 1959 to the late Pirl D. and Helen Maxine (Beers) Oakes.
Randy was a graduate of Cranberry High School.
He was a member of the Oil City YMCA where he enjoyed swimming.
He was a member of The Living Word Church in Oil City.
Randy enjoyed art, poetry, hunting and fishing, and carpentry. He was a well known D.J. at many of the area’s vets and social clubs, and also enjoyed singing, karaoke, and playing with the band.
He is survived by six children: Amanda Battin of Seneca, Randy Moorehead of Seneca, Amber Oakes of Maryland, Justice Oakes of Kennerdell, Stryker Puleo of Oil City, and Keera Oakes of Seneca; three grandchildren: Riley Johnson, and Connor and Olivia Moorehead. Also surviving are his siblings: Lorraine Sparks and her husband Vernon of Oil City, Rebecca Roseberry-Earp of Franklin, Tim Oakes of Kennerdell, and Cindy Hanna and her husband Thomas of Tippery; and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends, including Tara Phillips of Seneca.
Friends will be received Thursday (Nov. 21) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Friday (Nov. 22) at 1 p.m. with Pastor Travis Earp, pastor of Living Word Church, officiating. Private interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery in Franklin (near Dempseytown).
