He married Nancy Tibbets on 12 August 1818. They had at least the following children:

Hugh R., 1821-1872; married Betsey Hoyt;
Elizabeth M. K., 1824-1910; married Richard Lang;
Hiram T., 1826-1895; married Roseanne Moore;
Josiah, born 1829;
Lucy Ann, 1834-1915; and
Charles, born 1837.

Josiah was a successful merchant and hotel keeper in Holderness, N. H., in the small portion of that village called Squam Bridge.
