"For a time they lived in Canada and assisted in the building of two churches. They repeated this action in Bloomington, Il. and Ottumwa, Ia. He was an agent for the American Bible Society and the American Tract Society. They were both active in the anti-slavery movement in America."
They had 9 children:
James W., born 13 August 1815; died 1882. He was the editor of the Ottumwa Courier newspaper for many years;
Ann, born 2 January 1819;
Sally, born 1820;
Sarah, born 1822;
George Washington, born 1823;
Samuel, born 1825;
Julia, born 1827;
Wilson, born 1829; and
George P., born 1830.
From the Daily Gate City and Constitution newspaper, Keokuk, Iowa, Saturday, 15 July 1865:
"Mrs. Anna Norris, the much esteemed mother of J. W. Norris, editor of the Ottumwa Courier, died at her son's residence in that city on the 11th inst. She was 73 years of age."
