William H. Clark

Vernal, William H. Clark 81 an Ashley Valley Pioneer died at his home Friday.

He was born in Logan Jan. 31 1858, a son of Isreal J. and Emily Pearson Clark. He came to Ashley Valley in 1879 a year later he married Olive Downes in Smithfield.

Mr Clark worked as a Farmer and Blacksmith, and was identified with every movement engaged in the up building of eastern Utah. In 1893 he moved to Burlington, Wyo., where he built a home and lived until 1908.

He then moved to Canada for six years, but returned to Vernal in 1914, and had lived in Vernal since that time. He took an active part in Church work and was President of Vernal Second Ward Y.M.M.I.A for 13 years.

He is survived by his widow, four sons,William J. and Ray Clark of Vernal, Shell Clark of Burlington, Wyo.; four daughters Mrs. Edlean Abegglean of Lapoint, Utah; Mrs Etta Gillman of Provo, Mrs. Lucretit Shelton of Murray and Mrs Jessie Law of Payson. 71 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services were scheduled in Vernal Second Ward Chapel today at 1 P.M.
