Polly Bricker, 103, of Shenandoah, passed peacefully from this life with family surrounding her, Friday, October 4, at Life Care Center of New Market. Born Pauline Nicholson Emerson, on June 20, 1916, she was the youngest of three children to Edward Benjamin Emerson and Mamie Virginia Nicholson Emerson. "Granny B" left her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren a legacy of love and happy memories. She had a passion for family and often proved a doting matriarch. She particularly shined during family gatherings which were often blessed with a bounty of food and, in cool months, a fireplace as warm as her heart. In the warmer seasons, she loved to have family gathered together in lawn chairs in the yard, or enjoyed the occassional trip to the Skyline Drive for a picnic. Fond of family conversation, she was even an attentive listener to the youngest grandchild or great-grandchild.

Preceding her in passing were her parents; brother, Clyde; sister, Mae; and husband Bill Bricker. She leaves three children, including Robert "Bob" Moore, of Shenandoah, Sandy Miller, of West Virginia, and Bill Bricker, II, of Berryville; as well as eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.

A private family service will be held at a later date, with cremains interred next to her mother and father in Rest Haven Cemetery, Shenandoah.
