Clyde Edward Emerson, 68, of 810 Bank St., Shenandoah died early Monday at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 1, 1909 at Shenandoah and was a son of the late Edward B. and Mamie V. Nicholson Emerson.
Mr. Emerson worked at Merck and Co. 28 years. He was a member of First Christian Church of Shenandoah.
In 1940, he married the former Marye Heatwole, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Robert E. Emerson of Homestead, F(Fla.) Air Force Base; a stepson, Elwood Douglas of Fresno, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Olive L. Middleton of Delta, Pa and Joyce E. McAndrews of Shenandoah; two sisters, Pauline Bricker of Shenandoah and Mae Bennett of Hyattsville, Md.; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday at Warren G. Kyger Funeral Home at Shenandoah by the Rev. Alfred Comer. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens near Harrisonburg.
