On Monday, October 7, 2019, James E. Kuss, beloved father and friend, passed away, at the age of 76.

He was born January 2, 1943 in Memphis, TN to Walter and Marie Kuss. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Richard Kuss of Rogersville, TN, his high school sweetheart and wife Carolyn Rose Poindexter, and second wife Carolyn Louise Brandt. He was a graduate of Memphis Tech High School.
He was beloved as the father of Danna Carol Smolin, father-in-law of Alan Smolin, Grandfather of Corey Adkins, and companion of Lynn Edick. He was the adopted father of stepchildren Kellie, Steven and Tommy Kuss.

He received his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Christian Brothers College and worked for various defense contractors in his carrier , retiring from Lockheed Martin. He loved motorcycling, boating, camping, and redbone coonhounds. He described himself as "an ornery ole cuss" and his larger than life personality and enjoyment of causing havoc will be greatly missed by his loved ones.

A celebration of his life is planned for Saturday, October 12th from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at the Myers Farm, 601 Kirkham Road, Bean Station, 37708.
