Kenneth Leroy McMillan, 92, of Longview died March 12, 2009 at home. He was born Oct. 1, 1916 in Hutchinson, KS, son of Silas and Minnie McMillan.


He joined the Navy when 18, and served 20 years, through World War II and the Korean War, all of good conduct, achieving three chief's ratings, then served another 10 years in inactive reserves. A superior officer introduced Kenneth to his step-daughter, Virginia Lockey Parker, and they married in 1940. She died in 2007. In 1953 the family moved to the Stella area, where he worked for Halton Tractor. He was an active member of Stella Lutheran Chapel, founding member of Stella Historical Society, and a Mason.


He was the last of eight siblings. Surviving are children Dorothy McMillan, Mary and Skip Cliffton, Paul McMillan, and Margaret and Ken Wyffels; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren with a fifth on the way; and many nieces and nephews.


Services will be at 11 am Saturday at Stella Lutheran Chapel. Interment will be in Bunker Hill Cemetery.
