Mr. Johnnie Wright, 98, of Lancaster passed away Friday, September 20, 2019 at his home.
He was born May 26, 1921 in Lancaster, a son of the late John Wright and Hattie Elizabeth McManus Wright.
He was twice married, first to the late Thelma Robinson Wright, then to Margie Catoe Wright.
Mr. Wright was a member of Glenwood Heights Baptist Church and was the retired owner of S & W Garage. He was a World War Two US Army Veteran.
Mr. Wright is survived by his wife, Margie Catoe Wright; a son, John Wayne Wright and his wife Debbie of Lancaster; three daughters, Ann Strickland and her husband Russell of Lancaster, Sue Lucente and her husband Jim of Clover, and Linda Roddey and her husband Pat of Fort Lawn; two step daughters,, Linda Barwick and her husband Allen of Columbia and Joy Whitworth and her husband Jeff of Oak Island, NC; fifteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and ten great great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, and first wife, he was preceded in death by a step son, Dale Adams; three brothers, Donald Wright, Ira Wright and Coleman Wright; and three sisters, Thelma Marsh, Onie Munn and Mary Knight.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 23, 2019 at Glenwood Heights Baptist Church – Fellowship Hall and other times at his home. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Wright will be held Monday, September 23, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Glenwood Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Daniel Porter and Rev. Steve Neal officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Glenwood Heights Baptist Church, 600 Nichols Road, Lancaster, SC 29720. Lancaster Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family of Mr. Wright.
