Josephine Mary Beckert, of Fort Madison, Iowa, passed away at the age of 82, at her home on July 25, 2006. She was the youngest daughter of Joseph & Mary Pieper Kramer. She married Laurence John Beckert on October 12, 1943 in West Point, IA. He died on October 21, 1995. They were the parents of 8 children. Early years she waited tables at the Rainbow Inn, worked at Sheller-Globe in Keokuk and later at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown. She was of the Roman Catholic Faith and a member of Our Lady of Fatima Chapel in Colona, IL. She was an avid gardner, canned her homegrown fruits and vegetables, and made homemade quilts for her children and grandchildren. She loved family gatherings in her large country style kitchen, at her farm home. Josephine is survived by: 4-daughters: Sharon (Kenneth) Dix, Kathy (Bob) Jacks, Gerry (Bob) Inghram, and Patricia (Randy) Carter. 4-Sons Larry Beckert, David (Bonnie) Beckert, Mark (Gayle) Beckert, and John (Lori) Beckert. 1-Niece Marcia Keran. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Husband, 1-brother, Alvis Kramer, 3-sisters, Irene Kramer, Eleanor Keran, Edna Sayers, and 1-nephew, Eugene Keran Jr. Officiating at the "Mass of Christian Burial" at St. Joseph's Church, in Ft. Madison, was Fr. Frank Solupski of Colona,Illinois July 29, 2006.
