Obituary, OBITUARY
Maria M. Stowe was born in Chittenden county, Vermont, October the 23rd, 1819, and died at the home of her daughter, Florence Tucker, in Marysville, Iowa, Feb. the 2d, 1897, aged 77 years, 3 months and 9 days.
She was well educated and raised in good society, and was married October the 22d, 1840, to William D. Weller, who died about four years ago. Eleven children were born to them, eight are still living, as follows: Mrs. Emma Gilbert, of Marysville, Kansas, Mrs. Florence Tucker, Mrs. Orpha Ulsh, Willie Weller, Marysville, Iowa, Elmer Weller, Melrose, Iowa, Herbert Weller, Pe Ell, washington, Ralph Weller, Little Rock, washington, and Howard Weller, Mesa, Arizona.
The five first mentioned were all present when the spirit left the body, and all promised to meet her in heaven. She was conscious till the last and waited patiently and talked hopefully of the coming of the Saviour to take her to the heavenly home.
The deceased was converted in childhhod and gave all her life to the service of God and the good of the world, and had for many years enjoyed the blessing of perfect love and was wonderfully sustained and comforted by the indwelling presence of her Divine Saviour.
As a wife and mother she was always looking carefully after the wants of her husband and children and doing all she could to make home life pleasant and helpful to them.
Mother Weller came with her husband and family to Marysville in 1866, and helped to form the first Methodist society in this place, and in all after years was remarkably faithful in her attendanc e upon all the means of grace seeding to promote love and peace among all with whom she associated. Her funeral was preached by a former pastor, Rev. S. H. Thomas, of Beacon. Text St. Luke, the 1 9 - 13, "Occupy till I come." Revs, Fry, the pastor, and Jackson, of Attica, were present and took part in the services.
Her body was laid to rest in the Marysville cemetery She will be long remembered and talked of as a well developed christian, whose life was a blessing to all.
Hope cheers the future while we sing, "Yet again we hope to meet thee." S. H. T.
We extend sympathy to the children in this their hour of sad bereavement.

She is my 2nd great-grandmother.
