Mr. James D. Foley age 90 of Barbourville, departed this life on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 in the Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on October 23, 1928 in Harlan, Kentucky and was the son of Hugh York Foley and Amanda (Garland) Foley.

Mr. Foley was a member of the Artemus Baptist Church. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean and Vietnam wars achieving the rank of chief Petty Officer before retiring with a total of 30 years of service. He enjoyed playing the lottery and going to Lee’s Food Mart every morning to spend time with his friends and make coffee.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Amanda Foley along with six brothers, Arnold, Clyde, Homer, Clarence, Hubert and Arthur Foley and five sisters, Bertha (Foley) Sowders, Helen Foley, Mae Foley, Billie Jo Foley Bays and Barbara Foley Henderson.

Left behind to mourn his passing, his two children, son, James D. Foley, Jr. of Culpeper, Virginia and Cathy Jean (Foley) Olson and husband Mark of Merrimack, New Hampshire, one sister, Alma Lee Foley Carr and husband Robert of Arcadia, Florida, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral services for Mr. Foley will be conducted in the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Steve Mayle officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Brown Cemetery at Little Poplar Creek. Pallbearers will be Jim Tom Foley, Greg Foley, Bob Blevins, Floyd Blevins, Mike Blevins, Spencer Prichard and Dillon Blevins. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Ketchum, Burchell Blevins, Ron Phipps and all the Lee’s Food Mart employees and friends. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

Friends will be received at the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the Hour of service at 11:00 a.m.
