Mrs. Alma L. Newsome, 76, of Swainsboro passed away Monday, September 2, 2019 at her residence following a brief illness.
Mrs. Newsome was born July 13, 1943 in Vidalia to the late Charlie Paul Barwick and Lurene McDaniel Barwick Davis. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry Lynwood Newsome; stepfather, John Davis; brothers, Billy Barwick, Charlie Paul Barwick Jr.; sisters, Drunelle Lindsey, Amy Barwick.
Alma attended school at Oak Park. She loved reading her bible, listening to Jimmy Swaggart, and spending time with her family. She also loved going camping and riding in a pontoon boat. She was a member of Dellwood Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Terry (Janet) Youngblood, and J.C. (Estine) Youngblood, both of Baxley; daughter, Melinda Futch of Swainsboro; brother, Marvin (Debbie) Davis of Vidalia; sisters, Ella Mae Fryberger (Jack Marsh) of Augusta, Mackie Lawrence, Cheryl B. (Glen) Waters, both of Vidalia; 4 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral services will be Sunday, September 8th, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Joe Bedgood officiating. Interment will follow in the Blundale Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Leon Barwick, B.J. Barwick, Ronnie Newsome, Chris Newsome, Mickey Lindsey, and Billy Joe Barwick. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chapman Funeral Home, 427 North Main Street, Swainsboro, GA. 30401.
