LaRue was born Jan. 19, 1917, to Harry Dale and Maude Elsie (Montgomery) Butcher, in La Madera, N.M. In 1921 her family moved near Frederick in the Deep Red area. She attended Holton School and later Manitou Schools. She worked early in life as a hairdresser and later as a waitress.
She married Forrest Cannon on May 26, 1938, in Clinton. He preceded her in death on Dec. 16, 1947. She later married Rufus McAfee. He preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1958. She later married Joe Church . She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church .
In addition to her husbands she was preceded in death by an infant son, Jerome Cannon in 1938; daughter, Jacquetta Redding in 1978; two brothers, Albert E Butcher and James N Butcher; four sisters, Billie Courtney, Corinna Schreiner, Anita Russell and Elsie Dale Butcher; and one grandson, Michael Cannon.
She is survived by two sons, Wayne Cannon and his wife Mary Jo, of Kane, Ill., and Terry Cannon, of Oklahoma City; four sisters, Dossie Fisher and Marita Cronin, both of Frederick, Patsy Robertson of Austin, Texas, and Ann Woods and her husband Bob of Oklahoma City; a sister-in-law, Jurhee Makowecki; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
