J. B. Lewis, 67 - A retired heavy equipment operator, J. B. Lewis of Simpson Point on Grant 3, died in the Guntersville Hospital at the age of 67. He had been unable to work several years. He had brain surgery 6 years ago. He operated heavy equipment for the county, Stanley Astin, Rayburn Bevel and others. He lived at Simpson Point the last 40 years. He grew up at Hebron. He and Leora Kirkland of Simpson Point were married in 1942. His parents were John M. and Leona Holt Lewis. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife; 2 sons, bobby Lewis and Gary Lewis, both of Simpson Point; 5 sisters, Mrs. Grade Hand, Mrs. Mary Canfield and Mrs. Faye Phillips, all of Guntersville, Mrs. Eula Cooper of Albertville and Mrs. Francis Tucker of Arab; a brother, L. D. Lewis of New Hope, 4 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren. Bro. Bernard Andrews conducted the funeral at the Simpson Point Church of Christ. Mr. and Mrs. Erskine Morrison, Leonard Cooper and Wiliiam Bearden sang. The New Hope Funeral Home directed. Burial was in the Panquin Cemetery. The pallbearers were Danny Wilder, Vernon Cooper, Junior Kirkland, Jeff Kirkland, Donald Ray Lewis and Gene Hand. Obituary from the Guntersville newspaper, The Advertiser-Gleam
