Plain City—Marion Knight, 80, lifelong resident of Plain City, died this morning at his home after an extended illness.
Mr. Knight was a farmer and beekeeper. Prior to retiring he was bee inspector for Weber County.
He was a member of the LDS Plain City Ward and a high priest. In 1913, he was in the bishopric of the ward. He served a two-year mission to England and while there was president of the Newcastle Conference. He later served a three-month home mission in the North Weber Stake. In 1944, he and his wife served a six-month mission to the Northwest, with headquarters at Portland. He had also been supervisor of the parents' class of the Plain City Ward.
He was born Feb. 6, 1875, in Plain City, a son of Alonzo and Catherine McGuire Knight.
On July 22, 1898, he married Ellen E. Palmer in the LDS Sale Lake Temple.
Surviving are his widow, Plain City; two sons and three daughters: Horace A. Knight and Mrs. Lloyd (Lenora) Hadley, Plain City; Wallace M. Knight, Riverdale; Mrs. Maurice (Roma) Conroy, Ogden; Mrs. Spencer (Veida) Pingree, Oakland, Calif.; 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the LDS Plain City Ward. Bishop Merrill Jenkins officiating.
Friends may call at Lindquist and Sons Colonial Funeral Chapel, 3408 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Sunday and Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday until 12:15 p.m. Interment will be in the Plain City cemetery. Ogden Standard Examiner, December 9, 1955.
