Pioneer Dies At Age Of 94
Mrs. Catherine McGuire Knight, 94 years of age, Utah pioneer of 1852, died on Monday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Robert J. Eames, in Harrisville. Mrs. Knight was born in Chester County, Pennsylvania, October 15, 1833 and came to Utah by ox team when 19 years of age.
She was married to Alonzo Knight on 24 Apr 1853 and took up her residence in Plain City, where she had resided until 10 years ago, when she moved to the home of Mrs. Eames. She had been blind for a number of years. Her husband died in 1921.
Surviving are six children, 64 grandchildren and 145 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. The living children are: William Knight, Plain City; Mrs. Charlotte Green, Idaho; Mrs. Robert J. Eames, Harrisville; Mrs. Henry Eames of Almo, Idaho; and Stephen and Marion Knight of Plain City. Lindquist undertakers are in charge of funeral arrangements.
Services for Mrs. Knight will be held at 1 o'clock Thursday in Plain City chapel, with Bishop George A. Palmer presiding. Friends may call at the home of Mrs. Eames on Wednesday afternoon and evening and then on Thursday until time of services. Interment will be in Plain City Cemetery.
