Helen Louella (Barkdoll) Lung, 86, of Hagerstown, passed away Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, at the Village at Robinwood in Hagerstown. Born Oct. 28, 1923, in Chewsville, she was the daughter of the late Herman David and Katherine Alice (Sheffler) Barkdoll.

Helen is survived by her loving husband, Garland D. Lung; a son, Richard A. Bowers of Hagerstown; a granddaughter, Ruth Ann Huff, of Orlando, Fla.; one great-grandson, Jason Huff; six sisters, Joann Clark and Mary Clever, both of Hagerstown, Janet Norris of Frederick, Md., and Charlotte Shank, Maxine Smith and Kathryn Nave, all of Fairplay, Md.; and a brother, Walter Barkdoll, of Wolfsville, Md.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Goldie Stouffer, Edna Carter and Elizabeth Grove; and six brothers, Alfred, Russell, Orville, Francis O., James and Arthur Barkdoll.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Pastor Gerry Johnson officiating. Private burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
