Harrill Lee "Bus" Blanton, age 95, died Sunday, July 28, 2019, at White Oak in Shelby.

Born in Cleveland County, NC on April 17, 1924, the son of the late John Samuel Blanton (1889–1947) and Garva Ella Harrill Blanton (1891–1985); husband of the late Martha Evelyn Gold Blanton (1923–2003).

A longtime member of Lattimore Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, pastor selection committee, Sunday School teacher, and sang in the choir; later in life, he attended Victory Baptist Church.

Served three years in the United States Navy during WWII, was a member of the Lattimore Lions Club, and worked as a teacher for Kings Mountain Junior High where he taught vocational education.

Survived by his sons, Harrill Blanton Jr. (Tena), John Gold Blanton (Brenda), Michael Blanton (Leanne); daughter, Martha Caudill (Stuart); four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Sarah B. Dedmon; sister-in-law, Veva C. Gold; brother, Bob Blanton; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.

Also preceded in death by his brothers, Jesse Miles Blanton (1912–1912), John Samuel Blanton, Jr. (1918–2000), and Kenneth Hewitt Blanton (1920–1998); and sisters, Jenny Beatrix "Bea" Blanton Ramey (1913–2007) and Annette Blanton Cline (1915–2007).

The funeral service was held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 3, 2019, at Lattimore Baptist Church with Rev. Hammond Coats and Rev. Henry Nichols officiating; burial with Military Honors in the church cemetery.

The family received friends from 12:00 - 2:00 pm in the fellowship hall prior to the service.
