Jesse A. Cruz, 80,St. Joseph, Mo., passed away Saturday,Dec. 28, 2002, at a local hospital.
Mr. Cruz was born April 21, 1922, in St. Joseph, and was a lifelong resident.
Mr. Cruz was a 1940 graduate of Christian Brothers High School;St. Joseph Junior College and Missouri Western Stae College. He was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral and Knights of Columbus Council No. 571.
Mr. Cruz was employed at Swift and Company for 27 years. He then worked for American Family Insurance, where he retired as an underwriter after 13 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Florentino and Lydia(Bravo)Cruz; two brothers, Alfonzo and Poncho Cruz; and three sisters, Pachita Barbosa, Mercedes Rocha and Michaela Montemore.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Cruz, of the home; his daughter,Lydia Parrish, and her husband, Steve, St. Joseph, Mo., three grandsons, Jesse, Damian and Craig Parrish; his great-grandson, Drake Parrish; and a sister Socorro Rodriguez, of St. Joseph, Mo.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10 a.m.Tuesday at St Joseph Cathedral.Entombment Mt. Olivet Cemetery Mausoleum.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. today at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Visitation on Monday will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at our Chapel.Visitation will resume at 5 p.m. Monday at st. Joseph Cathedral. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church, where a Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
