John D. Barnes, 74, died Sunday in Humana Hospital in Huntsville after a long illness.
The funeral was Tuesday at Higgins Funeral Home. The Rev. Marcus Nickell and the Rev. Odie Hunter officiated and burial was in Barnes Cemetery.
Mr. Barnes was the son of the late Charles Eli and Mary Elizabeth Tucker Barnes and a native of Lincoln County. He was a retired farmer and electrician and a member of Beech Grove United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sara Askins Barnes of Fayetteville.
