HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC - Joseph Edward "Ned" Pettigrew , III, 68 of Hilton Head Island, SC passed away on Monday, September 10, 2012 at his home. Ned was born in Florence, SC on January 11, 1944. He was the son of Gwynne Jeffers Pettigrew and the late Joseph Edward Pettigrew Jr.
Ned was a commercial real estate developer in the Southeast and resided on Hilton Head Island for the past thirty five years. Ned spent winters in the Florida Keys and summered in Virginia. Ned loved Nascar and was an avid boater. A true southern gentleman, Ned never met a stranger and was a friend to all.
Ned is survived by his wife, Linda Staffa Pettigrew of Hilton Head Island, SC; his mother, Gwynne Jeffers Pettigrew of Florence, SC; his daughter, Townes Denemark (Stephen) of Columbia, SC; his brother, H. Timmons Pettigrew (Shirley) of Florence, SC; his two sisters, Gwynne Pettigrew Jeffords of Florence, SC and Joy P. Ackerman (Bill) of Columbia, SC and his two grandchildren, Landon Denemark and Reid Denemark.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am, Satur-day, September 15, 2012 in the Sauls Funeral Home Chapel, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton.
