Daughter of Jacob Leathers (1756-1843) and Mary W. Shirk, she was named for Barbara Huber/Hoover Shirk, her maternal grandmother. The wife of her full double cousin, Joseph Leathers (about 1785-1825); the mother of Elizabeth (Betsy) Leathers Rumbarger and grandmother of Anna Mary Rumbarger Marshall. Barbara Leathers was my 4th great-grandmother. She moved back to Pennsylvania sometime after her husband's death (Amanda Twp., Fairfield Co. Ohio) in 1825 and before she and Betsy were baptized in the Milesburg Baptist Church in 1832. She is buried with her parents.
