Edward E. Bontrager, 92, of Elkhart, died Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at Hospice House, Elkhart.

He was born August 16, 1926 to Daniel and Fannie (Kaufman) Bontrager in Hope, Michigan. On November 11, 1950 he married Marcia Ellen Baldwin. She died January 29, 2018.

Survivors include nine children, Dottie (Gail) Groves of Goshen, Diana (Gary) Cook of Edwardsburg, Michigan, Darlene (Steve) Fanning of Shipshewana, Deborah (Vern) Bontrager of Elkhart, Denise (Russell) Jensen of Fort Wayne, Deloris (Craig) Gibson of South Bend, Edward (Tami) Bontrager, II of Warsaw, Donna (Tim) Miller of Tucson, Arizona and Dorene (Merle) Zook of Mount Sidney, Virginia; 28 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren and three siblings, Omer (Sue) Bontrager of White Pigeon, Michigan, Edna (Chris) Schwartz of Sturgis, Michigan and Dan (Brenda) Bontrager of Middlebury.

Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, LeRoy, Ora, Willis and Theodore; sisters, Katie Albrecht and Velma Mast; and a grandson, Anthony Zook.Mr. Bontrager was a member of Belmont Mennonite Church/Belmont Neighborhood Fellowship. He delivered mobile homes and at one time owned a gas station and developed real estate.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 29, 2019, from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. funeral service at Prairie Street Mennonite Church, 1316 Prairie Street, Elkhart. Burial will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery.
