CATHERINE McCONNELL ADAMS Catherine McConnell Adams, 91 of Auburn, passed away December 4, 2015 at Bethany House. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 7, 2015, at Grace United Methodist Church in Auburn, with Libba Stinson officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall and the service will be at 11 a.m. Catherine was born May 30, 1924 to Frank and Edna McConnell in Merced, California. Catherine met and married the love of her life, Fred Adams, December 24, 1943 during World War II. After the war, Fred continued his education and moved the family to Beruit, Lebanon. In 1955 the family moved to Auburn. Catherine did volunteer work for the Red Cross for over 50 years. She and Fred square danced for many years, she was an active member of the Emblem Club and played in several bridge clubs. Catherine was a Sunday school teacher at Grace United Methodist Church for several years. She is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Fred Adams, daughter Janet Kathleen Adams, son James Fredrick Adams, her parents Frank and Edna McConnell, and sister, Phyliss McConnell. She is survived by daughter Marilyn Adams Blanton (Bill), granddaughters, Patricia Stanfield DiMatteo (Tom), Karen Stanfield Metcalf (Dave) and Sarah Adams, grandson, David Ernest Stanfield. Also survived by sister, Betty McConnell Adams (Ben) and brother, Thomas McConnell (Ann), 6 great-grandchildren, 2 great, great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family respectively ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Grace United Methodist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 3125, Auburn, AL 36830.
