Lizzie graduated from Texas Technological College in Lubbock, Texas and wrote a book, Road to Destiny, the life of a pioneer family on the great plains of Texas, under the pen name Temple Ann Ellis. She later co-authored a book with her sister-in law, Nellie Witt Spikes, Through the Years, A History of Crosby County using the same pen name."
