Robert Leonard Scieszinski, 88, died peacefully at home on May 29, 2019. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 2 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines; there will be a funeral Mass at St. Augustin Catholic Church, 545 42nd St. in Des Moines on Monday, June 3 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery.

Bob was born November 6, 1930 in Melrose, IA to John and Mary (Craig) Scieszinski. He graduated from Moravia High School and married his high school sweetheart, Wilma Overturf, in 1949. They celebrated nearly 70 years together.

Bob’s career highlights included working with the National Farmer’s Organization (NFO); President of Rathbun Investment Corporation, a company he created with his friend George Conway; Manager of the Financial Center building in Des Moines; and many years working in real estate.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma; his sons, Robert (Patricia), David and Doug (Laurie); and daughter, Deborah Wilson; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son Jim Scieszinski.
