Leon rode horseback to Fairview, a one room school house about a mile west of their farm in Armstrong County. He later lived with his sister Helen and her husband Ed King on the "Creek Place", NW of Amarillo and rode horse back to River Road School. He attended Amarillo High School and Amarillo Junior College.
Leon went to CCC (Civilian Conservation Corp) camp in Wyoming. In the 1930's he wrangled mustangs for Jody Whittenburg in eastern Oregon. He also worked for Bell Telephone. He served in the Army in WWII. He had cattle in Colorado and was preparing to move there when on a return trip to Amarillo, he was killed in a car wreck due to icy roads Dec 31, 1951.
He married Gardland "Dolly" Hedgecoke June 5th, 1944. They had one son together Edward Leon Morris, Jr. of Amarillo, TX.
