John was born January 10, 1917, to Anton and Anna (Klansek) Oklesen. He was a sergeant in the Army Air Forces during WW II serving in the Philippines. He was a lifetime member of La Salle VFW and parishioner of St. Hyacinth Church. He retired from Westclox after 42 years.
He married Grace Meadowcraft September 12, 1941, in St. Mary's Church in DePue.
Survivors include his wife Grace, one daughter Cindy (Ron) Sisco of Mendota, two sons John (Kathy) Oklesen of Eustis, Florida, and Richard (Cathy) Oklesen of La Salle, seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by parents, daughter Carol (Lance) Korter of Cedar Point, three sisters, and seven brothers.
Full Military services will be performed by the Mendota Veterans Group.
