Greta Louise Albrecht, age 85, formerly of Pigeon, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017, at her home in the Hillside Terrace Retirement Community of Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Greta was born April 5, 1931, in Pigeon, Michigan, daughter of David and Lydia (Shetler) Albrecht.

Greta was an elementary school teacher for thirty-seven years. She began her teaching career in rural Snell School, where she taught for three years. After spending the next four years at Michigan Mennonite School, Greta moved across the country, teaching for five years at San Antonio School in Ontario, California. She then returned to Michigan where she taught for twenty-five years at Pigeon Elementary School, retiring from that position in 1989.

She was a faithful and active member of Pigeon River Mennonite Church. She taught Vacation Bible School and Sunday School, sang in the Ladies Chorus, and was a member of the Ladies Sewing Circle.

Greta is survived by her sister Gertrude (Reuben) Dietzel and her sister-in-law Doris Willingham, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters Leona Albrecht, Ruth Gunden, Vera Lyles, and Mildred Rheinheimer, and by her brother, Clayton Albrecht.

The memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Pigeon River Mennonite Church, with Rev. David T. Maurer officiating. Burial in the church cemetery will precede the service.

Memorials may be made to the Ladies Sewing Circle of Pigeon River Mennonite Church or Hillside Terrace Retirement Community of Ann Arbor.
