Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Esterdahl Mortuary, 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 299, 208 18th St., Rock Island, IL 61201.
Evelyn was born Oct. 8, 1916, in Minot, N.D., to Arthur and Edith May Koppelman Dorcey. She grew up and was educated in Creston, Iowa. She married Clarence C. Johnson on June 23, 1934, in Corning, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 1989.
Evelyn worked at Fresh Pak Candy, Buddy L, and was a cook at several area restaurants.
She enjoyed traveling -- especially to Las Vegas -- fishing, camping, playing bingo and the riverboats.
Survivors (and spouses) include her children, Kay (Vern) Claeys, Texas, Edmund (Barbara) Johnson, Texas, David (Robin) Johnson, East Moline, Regina (Jon) Edwards, Silvis, John (Chris) Johnson, East Moline; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchilden; six great-great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Dorcey, Rock Island. Evelyn was preceded in death by her sons, Jack C. Johnson and Michael A. Johnson, who was killed in Vietnam on May 6, 1970. She was also preceded in death by her siblings Elsie Baumann, Kennith Dorcey, Gordon Keith Dorcey and Darlene Carnicle.
