Mr. Boteler was born in Florence to Bernard and Irma Boteler and had lived most of his life in the Florence and Jackson area, moving to Pearl in 2000. He was retired from the Jackson Police Departement as a Juvenile Devision Detective and served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany in the 1950''s. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Brandon and was a former member of Oak Forest Baptist in Jackson and was a Mason with Forest Hill Lodge #613. An avid sportsman, Mr. Boteler enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as traveling and tending his yard and garden. He had a love for people and an enduring love for his family. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Betty Boteler, of Pearl, his son and daughter in law, Grant and Debbie Boteler, of Richland, his daughter and son in law, Christi and Gregg Thruman, of Minden, LA; his brothers, Thompson Boteler, Harold Boteler, Ray Boteler and Paul Boteler, all of Florence; his sisters, Virginia Johnson, of Vicksburg, Carolyn Brown, of Florida, and Linda Ann Foreman, of Florence; and five special granddaughters: Julie Boteler, Paige Boteler, Lauren Thurman, Reagan Thurman, and Laci Thurman .Visitation will be Friday, July 29 from 5-8:30 and Saturday, July 30 from 10-11am at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Funeral Services will be 11am Saturday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Briar Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
