James was a son of the late Samuel David and Rose Annette (Cochran) Knox.

He is also preceded in death by his wife Gretchen S. (Crissinger) Knox; a son James Wesley Knox, two brothers John Thomas Know and David R. Knox, and two sisters Doris R. Harris and Jean L. Stewart.

James was a retired Foreman from Weirton Steel Corp Tin Mill, was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was an Army veteran.

He was also a former New Cumberland Chief of Police, a Deputy, a New Cumberland Volunteer Fireman and worked at Turley Ambulance Service.

Surviving are his children David (Danielle Stewart) Knox of New Columbia, Pa. and Annette (Steve) Wilson of Salem, W.Va.; nine grandchildren, David, Stephanie, Phillip, Jesse, Craig, Alicia, James, John and Samuel; 11 great-grandchildren James, Michael, Kaylee, Eddie, Tegwin, Jack, Tenley, Josie, Kayleigh, Eli James and Arya.

Friends will be received at the Turley Funeral Home on Monday from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m.

Services will be there Monday, April 29, 2019 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Frank Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in the New Cumberland Cemetery.
