On April 21, 2019 Myrtle Joan Childers left this earthly home to return to a wonderful reunion, happily waiting for her were her father Claude P Blackburn, her mother Amy Isabell Elton Blackburn, her two brothers Galyn (Jeanne) Blackburn, Alpine, Leroy Blackburn, her 5 sisters

Thelma Blair, Mildred Johnson, Ruth Strickler, Donna Myers and Carol McBride.

Joan was born on August 12, 1932 in Tooele, Utah. In 1940, the family moved to Salt Lake City where she attended South High School.

On September 21, 1956 she married Curtis George Childers. They waited impatiently for the arrival of their son Curtis “Bart” Childers and their daughter Gayle Lynn Childers (Lance) Paxton. Later, as a single mother she would work diligently in the hotel service industry. She cared for her children and created a home filled with love, strength and courage and they would forever remain in her heart. Later Bart and Gayle would have to move over and make room for Logan Robert Earl Paxton and Marcus Lance Paxton, her grandsons who were the light of her life.

Joan enjoyed painting and ceramics, but upon reviewing her life, Joan’s greatest hobby was helping others. She mentored many and throughout her life she was always there to lend a helping hand and a strong shoulder. Be it family, a friend or acquaintance her Christ like kindness affected many.

Alzheimer's and heart disease claimed Joan after a long battle. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. The family would like to thank Utah Home Health and Hospice for their loving care of our Mom and Nana. Katherena and Amber are truly the “heavenly beings” mom accused them of being.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 S. 200 W. Bountiful, Utah. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary.
